Athena

Godess of Wisdom.

Athena was Zeus's favorite daughter, having sprung out of his head fully grown. She was known to be brave in battle and have great wisdom. People prayed to her for help with problems such as crops, machinery, or wisdom. She taught man to use tools such as the ox and plow, the wheel, and the sail. She knew the science of numbers.

Her symbol is the Owl, signifying watchfulness and wisdom, rational, intelligence. She is a powerful defender in war but also a potent peacemaker. Her main temple is the Parthenon in Athens a city of which she was the protector. She won their favor when she and her uncle, Poseidon the god of the sea, competed for the affections of the Athenians, each providing one gift. Poseidon provided a wonderful horse, but Athena provided the olive tree, giving shade, oil, and olives.

She hated Ares, God of war, so her greatest love was to thwart him in battle. She ussually won because she was the Godess of strategy. She was known to be very kind and wise and all loved her.
